Inauguration
On Inauguration Day, I was still lying on the sofa with ice packs. I kept dozing in and out. My heart sang. I am so glad Bush is gone! And I wasn't an early supporter of Obama, but now it feels like he is bringing a new dawn of hope to America and a return to our constitutional republic.
So ... here are some doozies from PunditKitchen (daughter of ICanHasCheezburger) that pretty much sum up my thoughts from the day. Yes, they are irreverent.
I remember how I loathed seeing the Shrub. Could not wait for him to be gone. These images worked for me.

I could barely wait for the Bushes to get the hell out of Washington.

By contrast, my heart was filled with joy and hope at Barack Obama's inauguration. This one works for me.

Now that we are three days into the Obama presidency, I keep hearing more good stuff. Each day, he is signing executive orders that wipe out little bits of the the Bush oligarchy. I like this image.

I feel so much safer with President Obama in charge. And I am becoming proud to be an American again, after these long eight years of shame.

I've been waking up every morning thinking, "I wonder what President Obama is going to do TODAY!" Wow, what a difference!
I hope you're doing better.
Me too, Laura. Feels like there's something delightfully different in the air.
Yes, indeed. I'm much better. Thanks for your concern.
Hi, Lisa,
So glad you're better. I love the images of Bush's departure!! I couldn't help thinking on Inauguration Day, when the Obamas and the Bidens personally escorted the Bushes to their helicopter, that they just wanted to make sure they were off the premises!
LOL! I had much the same thought. Wanted to be sure Bush was really and completely gone ... to paraphrase a song.
For about two weeks, the desktop image on my computer at work showed Executive 1 (formerly Marine 1) lifting off from the east side of the Capitol, carrying Bush to Texas while the Bidens and Obamas stood on the Capitol steps and waved goodbye.
I wanted to burn that moment permanently into my memory.
Although I must confess I have some wariness even now about everything, even with our new President in office.
I understand, Tracie. The image of the Bushes and Cheney's departing is sweet, so sweet.
Let's just pray for President Obama and his team.
