Good Report
Just back from the doc. With all the wisdom that years of medical training can confer, she determined that I had fallen. [Hardy-har-har!] And that I did all the right stuff. She says there's no infection. Hooray! But that I probably do have a mild concussion. She told me to let the abrasions and cuts dry up, then apply vitamin E a couple times a day, and we'll how it looks when it heals.
[Just for you, Kirkepiscatoid: You'll be pleased to know she's a graduate of your fine institution.]
While out, I also got my eyeglasses fixed. They were quite bent out of shape in the fall.
Thanks to all y'all for your concern. I'm at work at the moment, and will reply more personally to your comments on this thread and last night's when I get home this evening.

Well that's a mercy! Prayers for you rapid healing, friend.
Pax,
Doxy
Good news indeed. Prayers continue, with relief knowing that there's no permanent damage.
yay - btw concussion means you were hit hard enough to have cerebral trauma to cause you to become unconscious --- so take it easy the next few days.
Well, which fine institution...Truman (where I went to undergrad), MU (where I went to med school) or KCOM/ATSU (where I presently teach?). It gets confusing, you know....
Thanks be to God that you're firmly on the mend!
Troubling news about the concussion. Yes, as Ann says, do take it easy.
GASP! Lisa!
Gracious, child. Sorry for your booboo. Snuggle up with those kitties of yours and take it easy. PRAYERS!!

You did tell her what you're normally like, didn't you, Lisa?
It might have influenced her mild concussion diagnosis.
Good to hear!
Oh my, glad nothing was more serious. I fell off the roof a few years back and on my way down caught a foot between a pipe and the house. Knocked myself out and hung upside down (my shoulders touching the ground) for who knows how long. When I awoke and realized my situation, I started yelling for help. My neighbor FINALLY heard me screaming for help. He laughed so hard when he saw me I was ready to slug him!
I had to go in for an MRI on that one (I can't do the radio iodine thing cuz I have a reaction to the iodine). I had a serious concussion and really wasn't "normal" for a month or so. I sure slept an awful lot!.
So yes, please DO take care... get a lot of rest, don't push yourself physically.
and glad the glasses were fixable!
Thanks, y'all. I am fine ... despite soreness and ugly face and a bit of mental fuzziness.
MadPriest, your comment cracked me up! :) Fortunately, this doc has known me for 10 years ... so she knows what's my "normal" level of craziness.
Ann & Cany, your comments make me realize I really don't know what (if anything) one could/should do about a mild concussion. I do know I want to sleep all the time. Wikipedia, here I come.
Kirk, she's a D.O. from Kirksville. I think that means she's a graduate of KCOM. I appreciate her holistic approach to my health care.
YIKES, Cany! That sounds terrifying! Your story reminds me I was very lucky.
Lisa - thanks for this update. I'm so glad you got medical care and advice. Prayers continue to ascend.
Happy healing, don´t rock the boat!
Oh my goodness! Well, I hope you get some rest and that you heal and recover quickly. Prayers coming your way.
Laura
Thanks, y'all.
I think I've stayed awake about as long as I can. It feels like I have a chisel stuck in the left side of my head.
A special shout-out to you, Elizabeth, with thanks for not saying "I told you so."
You all are the best. I'm going to be fine.
Sorry I'm late to the "wake", Lisa. ;-) Glad to hear you're doing a little better, and continuing prayers for your unscarred/clear-minded recovery.
TBTG, i'ts not a wake, JCF! I'm gtateful for your wihses!
Hi LIsa, glad it is no worse. The concussion can take some time for recovery so please do not push yourself and listen to your body! Sleep is indeed The Great Healer. (A good friend of mine fell off an Alp a number of years ago and was really different for about 3 months--he slept a lot too--but a complete recovery and he's quite a prominent scientist now).
IT
wow Lisa -maybe you will emerge to become a prominent scientist!
:-D
But can she dance?
LOL on your recent comments, IT & Ann. I'd love to become a great scientist. But there's not a chance I'll ever learn to dance. ;-)
