Quotable
A propos of nothing. I came upon this quotation, and it just tickled me.
In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did they produce? - the cuckoo clock.
~Graham Greene & Orson Wells, The Third Man, movie

Small quibbles...
It was the Medicis, rather than the Borgias, who supported Michelangelo and Leonardo, and who ushered in the Renaissance.
And the Swiss did give us chocolate as an art form! ;-)
Well ... I can claim this brief: I posted a quote from a movie dialogue. So it's not exactly my boo-boo .... Right?
Please, forgive me for being a smart-ass!
(I just hated to see the Medicis and the Swiss fail to get their due... ;-)
Doxy -- there's absolutely no need to apologize for being a smart-ass. In fact, smart-asses are actively welcomed here!
