City of God Appeal

Every now and then, bits of the Gospel ring out in the great Anglican blogosphere. One mighty toll began ringing on November 30, when MadPriest and Lisbeth co-conspired to call all of us to support a worthy venture in Brazil. We're raising funds to support the Anglican Church of Christ the King in the City of God district of Rio de Janeiro. Go here and read the background.

The motley crew who make their home at MadPriest's virtual parish are working to support a parish in Brazil that is doing true Gospel work while the rest of us argue about how many primates can dance on the tip of a mitre.

According to MadPriest's latest tally, we've now raised over $4,500. I've sent in my donation. I expect all of you read OCICBW, too. But if you don't, and if you haven't donated yet, please hie yourself over there and make a donation in the true spirit of Christmas Advent.

[12/12/07 Edit: Matt Kennedy wrote in the comments that I misunderstood the SFiF fund-raiser, so this paragraph has been deleted.]

Just go over to MadPriest's and make a donation via check or PayPal. Do it now.

Lisa,

on the contrary. We are raising monthly subscriptions not one time donations. The last time we asked for a one time contribution in prep for NO we raised what we asked for, 2000 dollars, in a matter of hours

Thanks for the clarification, Matt. I didn't realize that. I'll change the essay accordingly.
